Default Connect. It 3.2.0 Text connector - FTP problem

Following has also been sent to Peregrine support:

We are trying to use the FTP option of the text connector to read and write files on a FTP server.

The connection goes thorugh a firewall that only allow passive connections - and this cannot be changed.

However this means that Connect. It cannot establish a FTP data connection to the FTP server.

Is it possible to configure the FTP service in Connect. It to use passive mode ?

Is the FTP sevice in Connect. It a custom Peregrine programmed service or is it relying on windows standard FTP service?
    Best regards Tommy

    Hi Tommy !!

Could you please have me in the loop on this one, because I am sitting with documention here and I sincerly hope that secure ftp is supported. I will NOT allow any trafic on port 21, but using port 22 through a ssh2 compliant software a la F-secure is OK.

Passive mode or not, wouldn't that be eliminated if you get access through a secure connection? Basically you will hit a ssh2-dummy-shell with related INCOMING and OUTGOING folders to send/receive data or have I misunderstood what you want to achieve?

    /Steen

I think You will be disappointed. I see no way of configuring secure ftp - there are no options for that.

So we may end up having to just write text files to a local directory and then have an automated ftp service outside CIT to do the actual FTP which will mean one more point of failure

Peregrine has raised an RFP to address the inclusion of passive mode for FTP connections. Peregrine hope they can have it in CIT 3.3.

Ohhh well, just learned today that this is not really a problem afterall.

It was a firewall issue - sometimes firewall people should be shot
