    Default Recommendations for field viewers?

When we had our database on SQL, I used to use the Microsoft Enterprise Manager to make a call that would display all fields (and their values) for certain tables. Now that I've moved it back to P4, I can usually establish a connection into the database (with the 5.1 ODBC driver) via Excel. The only problem is that if I try to display ALL fields in a table, the system will hang. If I narrow the query down to maybe a dozen fields, it works ok. But it would be very helpful if I could retrieve them all at once.

Is there another program I could use to do this?

With SC4 that is probably not possible. You Could try installing the SC5.1 ODBC driver and get a SQL explorer for example QTODBC from http://gpoulose.home.att.net

I wasn't able to get that program to work well. I also tried using Access, but it didn't seem to like the ODBC driver much. Excel still works ok, but I've found out that with certain tables I am able to retrieve more fields than others. Very weird.

Did You try the 5.1 driver? No other driver support third party programs well enough to do what You want (not that 5.1 driver is good enough  )

You might want to have a look here:

Yes, I have been using the 5.1 driver for every instance that I mentioned previously. In both Access and Excel you are given the option to choose what driver you want to use from the ones you have installed on your system.

Ok then I think it is SC4 that is the problem.
