    Default scsmtp, for email

    I'm using the scsmtp, for external e-mail in ServiceCenter.

    It worked fine until I had to close down security and disallowed anonymous access on my SMTP server.

    Is there a way to specify a username and password?? Maybe in the scsmtp.ini file.
    Or do I need to configure something else in order so I can keep using the SCSmtp

    In the scsmtp.ini file, add the line:
    smtpuser:xxxx@yyy where xxxx@yyy is a valid email address.

    In our case, ServiceCenter has an exisiting Lotus Notes mailbox.

    I've tried this earlier, but this setting is just for giving the FROM of your email another value then e.g. falcon (or another SC user)

    In my log I've got this message "SMTP server rejected name <smtpuser>"
    "--> 530 Authentication required"

    So I need a way to give a password to my SMTP server???

    As far as I remember You can't do that with scsmtp. This file is a poor attempt from Peregrine to provide a simple email facility. It even loose emails if the smtp server is down!

    You should think that a big company like Peregrine can develop a simple working smtp mailing utility - it is not THAT hard !

    In any case. Can't You on the SMTP server allow one specific IP address to post without authentication?
