Anyone using SCAUTO for automated ticketing?

Hi all,

We are using SCAuto ITO for an automated ticketing interface between SC and HP OpenView. At the moment we are using it solely to create tickets on mainframe job failures, and already the event map would be complicated to debug (it was as I was developing it). Our company would like more automated IR's created via these alerts. From what our OV bods tell me the event map name is stored in a SCITO.tcl file, and we can only have 1. I would like to investigate the possibility of having different event maps for different message groups so that some filtering is done prior to the event coming in to SC and making updates to one area and future developments a hell of a lot more easier. Is it true that only 1 event map can be defined? Can different message groups call different tcl files?

If you have a way to identify each message group uniquely, why not have an intermediate step in SC to take a look at the data and decide what type of event record to create.

I wrote an interface in SC to handle inbound alerts from BMC Patrol. I created a user table that held the alert data and in the format control for "add" under subroutines I fired a script that would inspect the data and compare it against a "rules" table to profile the alert and set incident field defaults for the ticket. The script subsequently create an eventin record that created a pmo or pmu.

Hi,

We are probably going to buy HP OpenView for servers and network.

Do you have any good input to provide since we are using SC v5.1 and want´s to integrate theese products?

Are you using the HP console or SC as primary source for Operations to know if theres problems with the servers or network?
