Default Anyone using Enterprise Discovery 2.x?

    Hi all,

We are in the middle of implementing Enterprise Discovery, but not much European companies (or usa?) are using it yet, so we frequently get the feeling we are 'inventing the wheel again' (this is a dutch saying, not sure it is the same in english;-)
Anyone using ED out there and would like to share experiences?

    Thanks in advance,
    Maggie

    Hi all,

I know I started this thread, sorry for not responding. We kind of stopped the project, not for ED-sake (although we had some technical problems which made thing hard to implement, and it's still not working as we expected) but because of the lack of good functional requierement. Next to that I wont be administrating SC any longer in a few months. Partly due to other software they 'gave' to me (building and maintenance of our websites), but also because our company will probably start using another solution and will stop using SC. Ofcourse I will be available for questions but I am afraid I don't have much to do here anymore.
Tommy, thanks for all the effort you put in this site and in my 'problems', and ofcourse, thanks to you all who helped me in previous times. All the best to you all!!

    regards,
    Maggie aka Machteld

    Hi Maggie,

would you please what you will use and why you stopped to use SC?
    It is very interesting.

I have take a major part in implementation of ED 2.5 (we started with 2.10).
It was a VERY large company (about 25000 pcs) with very complicated network. In my opinion ED is not a good solution for complicated network environment. There are other much better products on the market.

    Hi Maggie,

I myself am in the same boat, I have played with it a bit and am battling to get ED to talk to a Linux box--have successfully discovered a few networked devices and the following OS's: Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. Successfully got the agent deployed on these OS' and was able to get some good data from ED.

If you have any questions post them and we'll see if we can find solutions to these questions cause it'll ultimately help us learn / understand the product a little more.

    Regards,

    Dean
