Thread: SOAP and Capability words question!

  1. #1

Default SOAP and Capability words question!

    Morning,

I have been using the SOAP interface on v6.1,....

I guess this fuctionality is also in v6.0?,.... (I went from using 5.0 to 6.1)

    so, my question is, in the documentation it says that there is a new capability word in v6.1 of;

SOAP API Grants access to SC data using SOAP requests SC6.1
    through the web services API

So is there not a a capability word in v6.0? and if not how does this work?

Any help would be great,.... thanks,

As far as I know the soap interface was expanded from 6.0 to 6.1 so the capability word may not have been required in 6.0.

Have you tried just creating it exactly the same as in 6.1?

It sounds to me like you are considering to use 6.0 instead of 6.1 because of the licensing requirements for soap in 6.1. Am I correct?

I would not advice you to use 6.0. As I think I posted in another thread 6.0 is really bad. Some of my coworkers is of the opinion that 6.0 should never have been releases so bad is it. (I have not used 6.0 myself so I am just telling you what I have been told about it).

Hi Tommy,... yes, HP just called to confirm what you said,... SOAP wasn't really up and running in 6.0,.. so 6.1 would be required.

Initially we had an operator record set up which had full admin rights , but I wanted to restrict this to a 'normal' user with the added SOAP capability.

I am not really aware of additional licencing for SOAP,? we have just done some testing on a test system.

So I guess we would have to buy a SOAP licence for our SC 6.1 and I'm guessing this isn't going to be cheap?

..... don't suppose you know roughly how much? as in 1000's or tens of 1000's?

........ I just had a quote for the Connect-IT Database connector,..... serious amount of money!

I have no idea how much the soap license cost. Sorry.

I know it's a little late to be replying to this post. But, I just read it for the first time and think that I might be able to give some input for anyone else that reads this. I was told by our Vendor that the WebServices SOAP API runs about $32,000 USD. However, you can get a Temporary License for testing it to see if that's what you need or not.

Just a note on the license cost. It varies with number of concurrent users and the price is also different depending wether it is bought directly from HP or through a partner.

Good point. My company has several hundred users. So, I'm guessing that jumped our cost greatly.
