I have a question about the databasemanager.

I made a new file in SC.

There are also some links used.

The problem is.. the links are working only when a file is in use.

BEFORE it is not possible fo fill the link in the format. the only possibility is to type in datas into the link field or make

    a true-search.

My question is.. is it possible to get the fills working without i have a file in use?

I hope i explained my problem good enough.

My english is not the best one..

Many greetings and thanks for your help.

Can You describe how the link is setup?

Maybe send a screendump to sc@klein-jensen.dk (although I won't be able to read this until I get back home).

That looks very simple and should work.

Is it in change management, I know that many things are different in CM.

How does the first page of the link look like?

It IS really simple. And it DOES work perfect. But ONLY when i have a data in use.

When i click on the button to go into the database ... the links look like this:

Only after i selected a data it is possible to fill the link.

    and this is NOT changemanagement.

It is something what i self made.

The main menu looks like this:

The first page of the link looks like this:

I hope this is not TOO confusing what i wrote..

Do You mean that the link only works when You have entered some data in the actual field?

If You are more comfortable explaining the problem in german thats fine with me

    Yepp..

it works only after i putt some datas in thos linkfield and i start the search.

After that i usually find some dates.. when SC is displaying the datas the fills in the links works after that. But why not before? :~(

    That is indeed very strange.

You are sure You have not by mistake changed the button id for fill? It should be 9.

Thats standard in SC... i guess so.

Try it in your own system.

Build a new form with a link in it.

Then change to the database manager trough the options-menu.

I bet the link dosn't work either in your system

I am sorry, I can't reproduce this and I run same environment.

I just created a new form with 2 fields, 1 normal input and 1 fill.

I created the file. Added a link to contacts file. And when going to database manager I have no problem getting data by clicking on fill with no data in the field.

Have You tried unloading your format, file and links etc and send to Peregrine support to get their opinion?

Maybe we are misunderstanding each other. ???

Anyway the response from support does not make any sense. Do Peregrine have an office i Germany?

The fill function is available in any display screen that deals with a database. Since You probably have not created Your own display screen I think the one in question will be database.display.gui this should have a display option 9, You could compare this option with the one on display screen cc.first which is the one for call registration format cc.incquick.g.

Ahhh  I just remembered something, goto the formatcontrol for the format. Goto the privileges notepad and check that the expression next to FILL will evaluate to true.

If You can then you could try sending me an unload of the format, formatcontrol, link and file then I can test it on my system. What do You say about that?

DAMN... THAT did help now!!!

In the display option of the database.display.gui the condition was set to FALSE!

I changed it to TRUE and now it works....

    ARGHHHHHHH

I am sorry for bothering you for such a !"§(/&!)"$%&) :smile

That i could have seen by myself..

But something i am really blind!

Anyway.. Thank you very much for your help!!!!!!!!!

    Greetings from Germany.
