    Cool Upgrade 6.0 to 6.1 or 6.2

I am just beginning the upgrading process for our 6.0.2 system. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion as to whether I should go to 6.1 or skip to 6.2? I would appreciate any comments.

    Thanks,
    Donna

I would advice upgrading to 6.2. That should also make the upgrade to Service Manager 7 easier.

it's hard to decide.... I do not know all the new bugs that come with 6.2

... you could as well to stay on 6.0.2 and only performing the server upgrade - which means you can use the SC6.1 server and client (and web client)....
this solved a lot problems of an SC6.0 customer...

... but it depends on the functionality you want to take advantage of in SC6.1

... I did not explain correctly... server upgrade to version SC6.1 is not only installing the binaries on server and clients. You need to load 2 unloads and make inbox/favorites conversion.... check the online documentation that comes with SC6.1 - there's a pdf file that describes what to do....

    Good luck!

I was told 6.2.5 will be released within a month or so. We are waiting for some SCRs to be released in 6.2.6 later this sumer. There are some pretty important fixes that have been put out so far so I have to agree with tommy. From what I hear you will need to be at lease SC6.2 to upgrade to Service Manager 7.1. I recommend reading the release notes for each release from 6.0.2 to 6.2.4.2.

I suppose an upgrade from 6.2.1.4 to 6.2.4.4 is a simple binary upgrade?
HP asked us to do it to solve a possible memory leak issue but I just want to make sure I don't have to load some unl files after the upgrade? I could read the release notes but I can not find them on the new and improved support site.

That is only a binary upgrade. Only when the first and or second number in the version is changed it invloves an application upgrade.

6.1.x.x to 6.2.x.x includes application upgrade (which is optional btw)

6.2.x.x to 6.2.y.y does not include application upgrade.

Tommy what do you mean by "(which is optional btw)".

Are you saying I can go to 6.2.x.x binary only with very few changes to our 6.1.5 system? This would allow us to upgrade our DB2 version 8 to DB2 version 9.x. Is there many issues with remaining like this for a while?

Be aware that 6.2 is a complete rewrite of the server. 6.2 should have been titled 7.0. There changes 6.1->6.2 were much more significant then 6.2->SM 7.00

Yes you can always upgrade the binaries without upgrading the application.
