    Default Best practice for Backups

Hi.. we are currently on SC 5.1.4 and in the planning stages to upgrade to 6.2. Currently on P4 going to Oracle in 6.2...

Everything will be pushed to Oracle during the upgrade plan... the Oracle DBAs will provide backups of all the pushed files, so our current P4 backups will no longer be needed.

In my previous life, the team lead still kept a backup of the SC server going after we pushed everything to Oracle.

My question is, is keeping a backup of the server still necessary if everything is pushed to Oracle? What are your experiences/suggestions for best practice here?

    Thanks

Backup of the server at all? Or just the special hot backup stuff required for P4?

    Hi,

We are in the process of upgrading from SC5.1 to SC6.2. Our development system is converted completely to Oracle and all data files have been removed. Our backup strategy is setup as follows:

    - All files on the server (except oracle db) are backed up incrementally on a daily basis.
    - An export of the database is taken on a nightly basis Sun - Fri.
    - A cold backup of the database is taken on Sat.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Jeff Norton
