Thread: Uninstall Connect-it 3.6

Dear forum members,

System: Server
OS: Windows 2003 Standard Edition 32 Bit edition
PSC: 6.1.3
Connect-it version 3.6.0

When I try to remove connect-it 3.6.0 by the Add or Remove Programs I am receiving error 1722 Windows is not be able to uninstall.
After I checked the event viewer in Windows 2003:

Faulting application conitsvc.exe, version 3.6.0.6087, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

I upgraded to version 3.8.0 but also when I remove that a error is given:
Product: HP OpenView Connect-It 3.80 (en) -- Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action IntegrationPackUninstall, location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\, command: msiexec.exe /x "" /qb!-

This problem is occurring on not only one server but also all of my 3 servers.
Does anybody has a idea?

You need to first check whether the Connect-It integration pack is installed or not along with Connect-It.If not install it by running the CIT IntegrationPack.msi which comes along with the setup files for CIT.Once this is Installed,you can easily unistall Connect-It from the add/remove programs without any errors.

when things go wrong and you want to clean your machine to be able to reinstall a new Connect-It, try removing the following entries from your registry :

Registry keys to delete and or cleanup after failing uninstallation:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall\<What represents your product>
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\{Features,Componen ts,Products}\XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX


you should get rid of the 1722 error after that.
allways remember to uninstall any connect-it prior to install a new version and allway choose the main Connect-It (not the integration pack) from the add/remove program when uninstalling.
