Default Service Manager Installation on Unix

    Hi,

I am trying to install SM7 on HP UNIX 11.23i with Oracle database. I have successfully created connectivity with the Oracle DB.

After running configure. bat for verification of database ,verification failed and I am getting following error in smconfig.log file

    Feb 20, 2008 7:10:04 PM com.hp.ov.sm.configuration.Util exec Command
    INFO:
    Feb 20, 2008 7:10:04 PM com.hp.ov.sm.configuration.Util exec Command
INFO: Failed to load SQL client shared libraries, terminating.
    Feb 20, 2008 7:10:04 PM com.hp.ov.sm.configuration.Util exec Command
    INFO:

I tried to search on forums as per that I have set libraries also but I am getting a same error.

    Thanks,
    Ripple

Can you run sqlplus from the SM install directory and connect to your database? That should tell you if you have TNS or whatever you use to resolve oracle databases setup properly. Additionally, did you add the oracle libraries to SHLIB_PATH? eg, mine has oraclehome/lib32 among the directories in that variable.

So HP is still using the 32 bit libraries? Why not provide the default (in most cases on the current unix servers) 64b bit? If needed you should have the possibility to fall back on 32 bit but 64 should be better then 32 (less is not more in this case )

The support matrix says you have to use the 32bit client with 9i on Solaris, but nothing about other OS's or versions of Oracle.
