    Default Upgrade 7.00 to 7.01

Ok so I want to upgrade. Binaries is of course no problem but I also want to get the database refreshed just to start from a fresh database.

I only have MS SQL Express 2005 installed and have no knowlegde about it. I just know that when I came to the point of uploading data it failed of course because the database already existed ( I knew there were 99.999% change that would happen but had hoped HP had included an optin to delete the database).

So how do I delete the SM7_DEMO database and create a new empty ?
    Best regards Tommy

I'm not a DBA and it's been since late November since the initial install, but when I couldn't run the out of box SQL database installer from the CD I installed SQL Server Express and created a new database and user using this GUI tool:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Apparently SQL Server Express doesn't come with a GUI management tool. If all you have is the SQL Server 2005 Express database and no GUI then this might be all the help you need.

Once I installed SM I then used the GUI management tool to backup the database. Now it is very easy to just restore the database through the GUI management tool whenever I need to go back to an OOB system.

    Ok I will try that.

I actually ended up with uninstalling and deleting the old data then reinstalling.

    Hi,

you may download a trial version of MS SQL 2005 - this will give you the gui tools
for admin as well. It workd for me - I had to install the demo database manually because somehow the scripts did not worked at all.

    regards

Default Instructions for setting up a database

The attached instuctions for installing SM7 include a walkthrough of configuring the SM7 database manually rather than using the batch file to create SM7DEMO.

You could have also edited the SQL Install Batch file and delete the entries to install dot.NET and SQL-Server. Then just delete the demo database and start the Batch-file again.

This should have also done the job.

For administrating the SQL-Server I would recommend to install the SQL Server Management Studio Express, you can find this one here:
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/bb410792.aspx

A nice and easy way to look at the SQL-data is SQLBrowser (Freeware):

Yes I did go about that route however the highlighted part was what I needed to do but did not know hot to do it without a gui.
