Thread: Service Manager 7 - AD Integration

Default Service Manager 7 - AD Integration

    Hi,

I am able to authenticate successfully from service manger 7.0.1 to Microsoft Active Directory.

Also, I am able to create an operator record automatically, when a new user authenticates from AD to service center i.e if the operator record is not present, during authentication operator record is created automatically and the AD user will be able to access service manger application.

Now, I need to know is it possible to create contacts as well automatically when a new AD user authenticate from AD to service manger?

    Regards,
    Praveen Janardahan

Default SM 7.0.1 for AD Integration

    Hi,

    I managed to :

    1. Authenticate (All contacts are able to authenticate successfully in SM from AD).
    2. Use Data Warehousing (I am able to fetch information of all contacts in SM from AD).

Note : I have used LDAP as the primary Data source

    Question :

Customer has a policy to delete the AD user id, if the user is inactive for 90 days.

I couldn't find any information on the effect of Active Directory user id deletion in Service Manager (interaction ticket, incident ticket, problem ticket, change

ticket,Configuration Item and other related information of the user been deleted ) ..

Request your help in getting information of the effect of AD User id deletion in Service Manager Application.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen Janardhan

It is not advised to delete users(operators in SC/SM). Instead lock it so it cannot be used.

Default SM 7.0.1 for AD Integration

    Hi,

As per our customer policy, the account will be inactivated after 45 days and after 90days the account will be deleted in 90 days in Microsoft Active Directory...

I would like to know consequence of this on Service Manager Application, as we have enable LDAP as primary source (for data warehousing)

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen Janardhan

The consequence of deleting operators is:

    - you loose the information about individuals that created, updated and closed records.
    - if fields containing operator ids are validated against the operator table any future updates to records containing deleted operators need to have those operators changed

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information.

I have used only "contacts" table for data warehousing (I mean to make AD as Primary source).

"Operator" table is used for authentication and Operators will be created using template (*SYSDEFAULTS) .

I guess in this case, Service Manager will not be able to fetch contacts from contact table (as it is looking AD as primary source),but operator account will be available in SM ..

Is this approach is OK ?

    Best Regards,
    Praveen Janardhan

Why don't you update the field "man.lockout.user" and "locked.reason" operator´s table with data that you can lock news logons and on the feature after purge\archive you delete this users operators inactives?
