Default Oracle specific user ID roles/privileges

    Hi!

We're using Oracle db server as RDBMS for ServiceCenter and we would like to know which are the minimal roles and privileges exactly necessary for normal operation. By normal operation I mean creating calls, incidents, changes, customizing forms, etc..

We would like to set the roles and privileges to minimal for PSC user because of security reasons.

I've already asked it from the HP support, and i got this answer:
Minimum roles in oracle are add, update, delete records in all the tables, create index/table, and alter drop index/tables.
My superior was not satisfied with this answer, because it's not an Oracle specific answer. On the other hand, we've experienced performance problems, because the Oracle admins didn't add RESOURCE role for the SC userID.

I'm not an oracle expert, but it seems our Oracle admins can't do this alone, so now, i have to investigate this case.

If somebody can share me that which Oracle specific roles and privileges has been added to SC connection user ID, please help!

    Thanks,
    Akos

As far as I am not wrong - we used CONNECT and RESOURCE roles. If I tried to use less, I had a problems. Maybe there is possible to limit the roles used by SC, after the installation as running SC does not create the new tables etc.
So maybe CONNECT will do - but without RESOURCE you will (probably) will not able to
add any new field in your tables.

Look for SC installation guide - I think it is described there. If it is, tell your manager:
HP says these roles are necessary. If we use less, and we will have a problems with our database, HP will not do a thing to help us. Saying simple - we will be in a big sh...t. Who will fix our problems?

By the way - do not expect much from HP support anyway.

    regards
    Artur
