Website usergroups

One of the interesting features of this new forum is the usergroups. The usergroups can be used to control various things.

To start with I will use it to allow users in some extent to control which boards are listed in the main index. By joining groups users can add boards to the index depending on interests.

F.ex if a user is only interested in SC5 he can join the relevant group and the relevant boards will be displayed.

Following groups will be created to start with:

• Everything - will show all boards available
• SC3 - will show boards related to ServiceCenter 3
• SC4 - will show boards related to ServiceCenter 4
• SC5 - will show boards related to ServiceCenter 5
• Get.It - will show boards related to Get.It
• Connect.It - will show boards related to Connect.It
• Knowlix - will show boards related to Knowlix
  

Boards in following categories will be shown independant of group memberships:

• General
• Documentation
• Downloads
• Test

The full functionality is not implemented yet and the reason for this is that users have to request to join the groups and then I have to approve that request. This could take some time so in order not to prevent users from acessing the boards I will wait a while before implementing the rest of the stuff that are needed to use this completely.

Because it could take some time for me to approve all group memberships I suggest that You already now start joining the groups You are interested in.

Remember to join the user groups that has Your interest.

At some time in future I will enable full functionality on these groups and that means if You have not joined groups before then You need to join the groups at that time and this could result in some time without access to the sites contents because I may not be able to approve the group memberships immediately.
