Default upgrading from 6.1.3 to 6.2.4

HI all i have a qestion in regards to upgrading.

currently we are running 6.1 which supports db2 v8 and we need to upgrade to db2 v9 becuase 6.1 does not support.

i wanted to know if we do upgrade from 6.1 to 6.2 will our customised system be over written becuase it is not straight out of the box.

There are 2 types of upgrades: Binary and Application.

Binary upgrades -These upgrade your server and do not touch your objects within servicecenter.

Application Upgrades - These require an upgrade utility module that is usually included in the download/media. Follow the specific instuctions included with the Application upgrade. It is a multi, multi step process and there is a phase called Conflict Resolution where you need to determine if you want to go forward with your version of the object (format, display screen, link, etc), go forward with the out of the box version, or if you want to "blend the two versions together. This is very labor intensive and requires MUCH testing!

I think that's why the Professional Services Consultants get the big bucks for taking on your upgrade. We have always done it ourselves and it is a VERY educational experience.

    Good Luck!

    Mike
