    Default ICM OR NOT?

I am currently involved in moving change management into SC, we are going to do this without a CMDB. What we are going to have to start with is a very high level Server and router list (non-relational). I have been tasked with creating this for our current Incident management module and to help with impact analysis in change.

My problem is if to use ICM or not? I have created my own files and also entered the servers in ICM. I still cannot decide which way would be best!

Does anyone use ICM? are there issues not using it to the full extent? will it be best to keep my own files or use ICM?

    Please help!

If You have not analysed the requirements carefully I suggest You start with what You already have and then later implement proper ICM.

Currently we use our own asset structure that has worked well for us for the past 2,5 years but now we are ready to implement a proper ICM structure. But I can tell You it is a long process to define the structure, in our case we want to make sure that we can use the same structure in our knowledge management system.
    Best regards Tommy
