    Default Service Manager Reimplementation Documentation

Is there any documentation available on reimplementing Service Manager 7.10 (or even 7.00)? We are currently on ServiceCenter 4 and plan to reimplement in the next year.

I've heard lots of horror stories about upgrading ServiceCenter, and I'm the sole support for the product at my company. Fortunately, I am not in a time crunch and will have the luxury of running our production ServiceCenter environment concurrently with the SM7 test environment.

Are there any resources out there for what's involved in a reimplementation? I don't think I will have too much of a problem duplicating most of what's been tailored on our system, but I'm not too familiar with event services, so I'm going to need some help importing data into the new version.

Can someone suggest some reading material that will be beneficial for me? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Upgrading is not an option for you; there have been too many application changes since your current version. Since you have the luxury of time on your side, make sure that your test environment is either SM7.1 or at the least SM7.01 with IIA. The IIA integrates the ITIL v.3 into the tool. Your version has ITIL v.1 integrated into the tool.

Get used to the new way the tool works and then gather your requirements for your re-implementation. You will also want to figure out what to do with your historical data. If your current version is pushed to an RDBMS you will want to work closely with a DBA.

    Good Luck!
