Default How do you use Get*It?

One of my customers is pushing us to purchase and implement this product, but I have many questions.

Will you share with me how you are using the Get*It product?

    How do you like it?

    Is it easy to maintain?

How does it compare to writing your own web screens (e.g., java script or cold fusion) to query data?

Can it be used to update tickets? If so, is it really using SCAuto (event) behind the scenes or is it 'real time' to the database?

Thanks for any info you can give me on your experience!

    We are not using Get.It.

We have developed our own webapplication where our customers can see status on calls and problems. Recently we opened for customers to be able open calls via this web. All done Without Get.It

1,5 year ago I had the oportunity to play around with Get.It and found that it is difficult to cutomize. I know that Peregrine has developed an application for this purpose but before You can get that You need to attend a class.

Currently my colleague is trying to setup Get.Answers which basically runs on the same environment as Get.It does (as far as I know) and the installation is extremely difficult to get right in the first attempt. Also the requirements seems very heavy.

We actually recommended a customer of ours to join efforts with us in our development of the webapplication instead of the customer using Get.It. But since they already had bought Get.It they decided to go ahead with it and let Peregrine Partner do the implementation for them.

in my opinion , Get.It is nice , cheap ( new price) and easy to customize. use Get.It Studio ( the old wbuild was absolute unbelievable ) . You can update tickets , deal with AC and SC and so on . Normally we need 3-5 days to install and customize Get.It.

You must have contact with nice sales people :-) The price we have been quoted is rediculous high and Peregrine has not been able to answer some very basic questions about integration to a security application Get Access so we canned Get.It because our requirement was to use Get Access for user authentication.

    Hi,
I like Get-It. It is rather simply to customize if you compare with javascripts and ASP. BUT Peregrine are removing the possibility to change everything in the module. From version 2.3 you can only change the modules you have bought... fx. you can't change the loginscreen and functionality that are placed outside the service or ressource-modules.
Peregrine Development have told us that in the future all customization will be done inside the webbrowser and not using a development kit.

yes , there is a new way to customize , but i understand , this is a way and get.It studio is also a way to custumize this . but Get.It studio isn't still avaible for Get.It 2.3 . With Get.It Studio , you can change all modules and create new one. Tommy , we need a peregrine sales allways online on this page :-) , normally you get a 50 User ( daily concurrent ) free licence included in pm sc4.x Whats going on , if more than 50 users logged in ?

    hi
Get-It Studio does not exist from version 2.3
The development Kit is called Tailoring Kit for Get-Service and Tailoring Kit for Get-Ressoruce and it is only possible to change the service- and ressources-module.

Tommy, we are currently using Get.It 2.x and are considering the continuance of upgrading and supporting get.it vs building our own web services interface. I am curious to understand more about what you wrote your web-application in - did you go for .net based web services or JSP / J servlets over XML? Any brief description of what your used would be appreciated - thanks!

The application is written in JSP.

We use Get Access for user authentication. (No it is NOT a Peregrine application despite the name)

The application read data from a DB2 database that is updated with Crystal Report extracts.
