Hi!
Has anyone considered to upgrade from 3.60 to 4.X?
After using AC v3.60 for 9 months, we have found that to fulfill our needs we need to upgrade to v4.X.

I see that you did not get any responses to your question. That is unfortunate, because we are going to upgrade to 4.x from 3.x also, and I would be interested in other peoples experiences and suggestions.
I haven't upgraded from 3.60, but my customer is using 4.21, prior to that I was developing in 3.6 & 3.5.
I believe that a better way to go would be to migrate to 4.x rather than upgrade.
- 4.x is vastly different from 3.6
- 4.x enables the developement of new screens, fields link etc
- with proper planning, you can add to, improve upon, the current system
when moving to 4.x
Features become actual fields, screens are developed to cater for each function domain enabling specific fields to be hiden from cetain groups.
I guess I don't know what the difference is between an "upgrade" and a "migration". Could you please explain ?

copy current database and then apply peregrine supplied upgrade scripts, ensuring to follow the instructions to upgrading carefully.
Migrating
Install a fresh copy of new database 4.x prepare new datbase with the changes required, ie. changing features to actual fields etc.
Once happy with the development, mirgrate accross the relevant data from old 3.x databaes e.g. Computers, products etc.
Other people may have a different opinion, which I hope they share.![]()
Hi everybody,
I often read (if it's either SC or AC) that people prefer migrating to a new version than upgrading to a new version.
I personally think it is better to migrate, especially when there are such big differences between the old and the new version.
But if (almost) everyone prefers migrating to upgrading, why spend so much time and documentation on upgrading the tool ?
Is there some specific reason someone would absolutely want to upgrade ?!![]()
What would be the key argument for someone to opt for either a migration or an upgrade?
And can anyone estimate an average time frame to migrate from version 3.51 to 4.3 ? I'm curious to your reactions ! See if my estimations are correct !
We are in the process of upgrading from 3.6 to 4.3. It seems to be going alright. get subscribed to the GPUG assetcenter list for the best information on the subject of Peregrine AssetCenter.
