    That all depends on:

    The number of records
How the server has been sized
How loaded the server is at the time You want to do it
What version of SC and what platform it runs on

FYI, I am planning to purge 54.000 out of 179.000 calls and 21.000 out of 73.000 problems this saturday and I have scheduled 17 hours of work for that. This is on SC3SP3 on MVS.

    I am not archiving.

I would be interested to know how your purge goes. As a ulr of thumb I suppose if you were Archiving and Purging it would take double the time taken to purge.

Presume you will be using datamaps and that all records are closed.

I am not using datamaps, I delete through database manager. But You can take the estimated time as a guideline because I have done this 2 times before so I am prety sure on the estimate.

    How did your archive go?

    Do you delete the following:

    problem
    probsummary
    incidents
    screlation
    clocks
    work
    audit
    SYSBLOB
    etc.

The purge went well, took about 10 hours.

    Purged:

    incidents
    problem
    probsummary
    screlation

SYSBLOB was backed up before the purge and restored after because of a bug causing ALL attachments for problems to be deleted!

Next step the comming saturday is LFSCAN and LFMAP to reclaim space in the files. Another 10 hour work day... sigh...
