Default Ok, Nearly at the stage of giving Up

    Hi All,

I am trying to get Crystal reports to bring in the Description field from calls/incidents from Service center 4 running on P4 database.

everytime i run the report it shuts down crystal. From what I can see the description field is actually made up of a number of 255 character fields which are stored in as a memo format. I understand that Crystal cannot read these formats until v9. I have upgraded and now run both v8.5 and v9, but still have the same problem.

What I would like to know is whether anybody has been successful in getting the description field brough into any of their reports, and if so how?

Thanking in advance the magician who can help me with this one

Is it possible you are using an ODBC-Driver < 4.0?

If so.. you need to upgrade to 4.0 ...

    • If it happens once, it's a bug.
    • If it happens twice, it's a feature.
    • If it happens more than twice, it's a design philosophy.

I have checked the ODBC Driver and it is the following:-

    file scodbc32.dll
    version 4.00.10.00

    date 01 apr 2002

    Is this OK?

I always had problems with CR 7 or 8 if I used the P4 ODBC driver > 4.0.0
The only one that isn't driving me crazy is version 4.0.0.0

You say that is "shuts" Crystal down, OK what message do you get then?
I can write a novel around this subject, how about giving me a call tomorrow? Just bell me at +45 4489 2587 during the day.

This is nessesarily not a SC / ODBC problem, it could be Crystal related.

Have you activated the ODBC trace so you can see what is going on?

What you are playing with right now can be a nightmare and I need some more background information.

    a) Do you have CR 8.x installed on the same computer?
    b) Do you only have SC 4.00.10 ODBC and the CR 8.x RTE installed on the machine where it fails

    /Steen
