    Default Basic Connect-it info

    Hi all

Can anyone direct me to a basic document about Connect-It and what it can and can't do ? I've gone through the support site and can only find highly specific info, nothing abstract enough to figure out what it does in general terms...

    Thx in advance !!

Default You can use Connect-It to:

Info below is from Connect. It 3.1.0

    a) Transfer information from one database to another.

    b) Duplicate the information from one database to another in real-time.

    c) Import information from e-mails, delimited text files, XML files or other formats into a database (example could be Servicecenters P4 database).

    d) Export information from a database to e-mails, delimited text files, XML files or other formats.

    e) Import NT Security-based information into a database.

You can actually split Connect. It up into two parts, the default connectors and the optional connectors. I have listed them below:

    Default Connectors:

    · Asset Management
    · ServiceCenter
    · InfraTools Desktop Discovery
    · InfraTools Network Discovery
    · InfraTools Remote Control
    · Command Line
    · NT Security
    · Text File
    · Telecenter
    · Voice Server Interface
    · FacilityCenter
    · PDA Inventory
    · ARS System (Remedy)
    · Universial Gateway
    · XML
    · Peregrine Desktop Inventory
    · Mapping

    Optional Connectors:

    · SMS 1 and 2
    · Intel LanDesk 6.3, 6.4 and 6.5
    · Tivoli Inventory 3.x and 4.0
    · Asset Insight 2.5 and 3.x
    · TS Census
    · LDAP
    · E-mail (PBS Eval.)
    · Lotus Notes (Eval.)
    · Database
    · MQSeries
    · WinPark Actima
    · UniCenter AMO
    · JDBC
    · SCAutomate
    · Tivoli Enterprise Console (PBS Eval.)
    · BMC Patrol Event Management
    · Web Service

Java SDK and Connect. It Studio can also be purchased. 8)

I find the product extremely powerful, build your scenarios and get the wanted data exchanged, even more important, afterwards you can turn your work into a NT-Service. When using Connect. It you spent most of the time building up the scenarios pointing out where you want to get the data from and finally where you want to put it in.

You should contact your Peregrine Sales Representative and get a trial key so you can se what this software can do for you and your companys business. Download Connect. It 3.1.0 from the Support Web and do a custom installation and then select all. Have a closer look at the docs folder and you will get more extended info about what I have written above. Are you sure that you have searched the docementation part of the Support Web well? Plenty of info about Connect. It is stored out there.

Peregrine used to have their SCAutomate suite to perform the same kind of work and I got the confirmation today thay SCAutomate will be phased out and exchanged with Connect. It in the future. If you actually look at the support web in the roadmap you will see Connect. It 3.2 popping up soon.

    /Steen

Thanks Steen, this is exactly what I wanted.

I tried the Peregrine web site, but could only find highly technical specific things....

Imagine that... I was wrong ops:

Peregrine has without telling anybody changed the status of the XML connector from being optional to being included in basis

Lucky that we never paid $25.000 for that ! But I wonder how many did????
