Default Star Wars 2 DVD release

Has anyone purchased their copy yet? I did on the first day - since then I have rewatched it about ten times starting from chapter 41....the battle scenes are still great and very impressive. I do wish they would have left in some of the deleted scenes, especially those between Anakin and Sen. Amidala; it helped explain some of the story much better I thought...

Of course one of the other neat things I noticed that I didn't catch during the movie is when Yoda is getting ready to fight. Notice how he no need to actually reach for his lightsaber or his walking cane - quite funny actually that Yoda uses the force to help with any of his handicaps/disabilities.

Seems like a big marketing thing, which I'm sure Lucas will do once all Star Wars movies are on DVD.
I'm not sure if I'm going to buy episode II on DVD for that very reason - that I might want to go for the full SW package on DVD once all 6 are out.

It'll cost a fortune though - all 6 movies with deleted scenes and everything...

Now you know why some people have turned to bootlegging and copying stuff to share....a friend of mine actually got a bootlegged copy of Spider Man like in the first week it was in theaters. A few of us from work watched it one day after our shift was over. After I saw it I was glad I didn't pay to buy a ticket to see it - it didn't think it was anything great.

Well, I see why people do this but I think it is wrong to do and I will never buy a bootleg DVD. It is just as wrong as this: In Denmark anybody can goto the public libary and borrow a CD, take it home and make a copy for PERSONAL use, then deliver the CD back to the library and keep the copy completely legal! YES that is a law in Denmark that allows us to do that.

Oh I definitely agree that it is morally wrong to make copies of that nature and I have never done it before in my life because it did cost those people money to produce the movie and they really are just trying to make a living, whether they are actors, directors, etc. But of course if your libraries in Denmark allow people to borrow DVDs, I don't see copying one being a problem, since they all have Macrovision embedded in them.

Not DVD's but CD's. The danish music industry is furious about that law and I totally understand it.

But then the government did something else. They put an extra tax on CD-R/RW to give to the music industry. The problem is that I have to pay that tax even if I only use the cd's to copy digital pictures on it  The music industry can't see that its not fair that users that do not copy the cd's have to pay the music industry for their falling sales. And thats another point, I do not believe that piracy of CD's is the reason for falling sales - it is simply because the music available sucks !

It is what is used to prevent people from making copies of DVDs. Take the video output from a DVD player and hook it to the input of a VCR, then try to record off of it...you won't be able to.

What is the income tax rate like in Denmark anyway? A flat rate system? What's the percentage, etc.?
In the U.S., our federal income tax operates on a progressive scale, so if you make, say, $6000/year, you pay around 10% in taxes. If you make $80000/year, you pay that 10%, plus 15% from around 6k - 28k, then you pay 27% from 28k-68k, then you pay 30% from 68k-141k.

Then if you live in a state that has its own income tax, you pay more to the state. Fortunately I live in a state that has no income tax

Of course then we also have sales tax....but I'm getting off onto a different topic here.

The income tax in Denmark is also progressive and among the higest in the world.

Some people pay as much as 60-70% of the last DKK earned  And theres a 25% "sales-tax" on almost all goods.

Like our system here in Canada, only ours isn't as high.

There's a 15 percent tax on goods and services, and income tax can climb pretty high on the people who earn quite a bit of cash.
Overall it means that the richest 0.8% pays something like 20% of all income taxes. And the 20 poorest percent pays about 0.8% of total taxes.

In principle I don't dislike the system, but it's seeing the people who run it and waste away our money that gets to me.
