Is anyone using Crystal Enterprise 8 for a Web reporting solution for ServiceCenter? We have it installed for testing with a IIS Web server, to see if it works better then using Report Center. However, everytime I try to run a report, it fails to properly logon to ServiceCenter. It just keeps coming back to the login form no matter what I enter it. We have the ODBC driver installed an properly configured under the system DSN. Any ideas on what I am missing?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi

I had the same trouble with the local installtion of a Crystal runtime but the server was only accessable (SC-server) via a normal DSL line. Well I just installed after settig up the crystal stuff the SC client cd rom again. Just did the upgrade. And I got access to the service center reort server.

Crystal version 8 could override some dll stuff.

I am not exactly sure if this is the same problem cause.

Maybe you got the same trouble ..

I wrote my own report runtime cause of the 8 version. And I created my own SC setup cd rom which will install the crystall dll stuff and will overrided this SC 4.04 report center trash.

Do you have a ticket opened for this at Peregrine's support?

I have the same problem.

To ensure that the Web component of Crystall Reports is working fine, I tested a report that I made on an Access database. It worked on the first try!!!

    Thanks

No, I have not contacted Peregrine yet. Currently, it is a low priority, so I have not had the time to really work on the problem.

    Hello Michael,

I used Crystal Reports Professional 8.0 with ServiceCenter. I had a lot of Problems to connect from Crystal to ServiceCenter ... and I think it is an ODBC Failure.

Did you try to use the ODBC Driver from the ServiceCenter Version 4.10 ??? My Experience with these two Programs is ... that most errors are ODBC Driver Problems.

I hope I could help you ?! And sorry about my English

    good luck !

We are using the 4.00.07.00 version of the ODBC driver (which comes with ServiceCenter 4.07). However, it would seem that CE is not even trying to pass the user name and password through the ODBC driver to ServiceCenter. I found this out by turning ODBC tracing on. When I tried to call up a report, nothing was written to the ODBC tracing log. We are getting no error messages anywhere in the system that we can tell.

    Michael,

Revert to the 4.00.00 version of the ODBC driver.

    That should improve things dramatically.

The problem is that the CE server is not even trying to communicate with the ODBC driver.

I will have to give the 4.00.00 driver a try if I get things working. Thanks.
